We really don’t care what we were having, as long as baby was healthy. We already have so many names for both genders.  I thought it was going to be a lot harder to agree on names we both like, but turns out we have similar tastes. We do plan on waiting until we see baby before deciding on a name.  I’ve always felt you need to see that sweet little baby face before you can decide on a name that suits them.

Well we just had our first ultrasound, and we are not quite as far along as we thought. We are 9 weeks 2 days! It was amazing seeing this tiny living being. Watching the tiny heart beat was one of the greatest things to see.  It finally seems a little more real.

Blood tests and screenings

I didn’t realize how many blood tests and screenings you needed while pregnant! And not to mention peeing in a cup every single doctors visit. For someone who isn’t a fan of hospitals and needles this wasn’t too pleasant. They didn’t even let my hubby into the area where they took my blood.  And I can’t forget about the lovely orange crush type drink they make you drink, before having to wait an hour until they can take blood to test for gestational diabetes.

We had been trying now for almost 6 months!!  When you finally decide it’s the right time to have a baby, 6 months seems like an eternity.  All sorts of ‘worst case scenarios’ were racing through my head.  Finally the time had come…

It was October 11, 2014, two days before Thanksgiving. We had been trying for just over 5 months. Even though everyone says it is normal to take 6-12 months to conceive, I was already feeling defeated. But this month, I was almost convinced I was pregnant a few weeks before we finally saw the “+” sign! I had a constant bloated feeling; and being very in tune with my body, I just knew. I was so excited when I saw the positive sign; I rushed downstairs to my hubby with the good news. At that point, everything just felt right.

We’ve finally decided it’s time to start a family!! We’ve been married for 4 years and together for a total of 13; so it’s safe to say we spent the time getting to know one another, before adding a baby to the mix.

We have already travelled more than most people do throughout their entire lifetime. My hubby spent 7 years as a corporate pilot, mainly based out of London, Paris, and Cairo. We even lived in Cairo fulltime for about 6 months, until the uprising shed new light on “life” to us. Living in a third world country during an uprising, sure opens your eyes to the extreme different views on the values people place on the human life. After that experience, we realized Canada really is the best place to call home.

So we packed up all our stuff and moved back to Canada. We spent forever trying to find the perfect house. We finally came to the conclusion, that if we couldn’t find what we were looking for, we’d have to build it! Thankfully my dad is a builder, so it made the whole process a lot more enjoyable. With our life all settled back in Canada, we were ready for another big change in our lives!
